When you sell your home, the title company, title attorney or real estate attorney will collect funds from the buyer and disburse funds to you, the seller. You will be asked by the title company or attorney's escrow agent how you prefer to be paid. Typically you can elect to be paid via wire or check.
Unless you're selling to a cash buyer, in which case you can receive your funds on the day of closing, it can take up to 2 business days for the closing agent to complete their post-closing process and disburse your funds. Do not expect to receive funds on the closing date (aka settlement date).
